Head to People and tap “Add person” — you can fill in a card, import a single contact file right there, or bulk-import from Apple, Google or Outlook contacts (Settings → Contacts → Import). You can also turn a family member into their own contact from someone's profile — we'll ask which circle they belong in and copy the family tree over.
Circles are how you group people — Family, Close Friends, Work, or any circle you invent. Create your own from Settings, set them when you add a person, and filter the People list by them later.
Every contact can have birthdays, anniversaries and custom dates — with or without a year (use “don't know birthday?” to estimate from an age instead). Family members' birthdays show up automatically on the contact they're attached to, and everything lands on your Home dashboard and Dates page.
They jump to that person's own pages: Reminders controls how you're nudged about their dates, and Gift ideas shows age-matched picks for them and their family.
Switch between Comfortable and Compact on the People page. In Compact, sorted by first or last name, an A–Z rail lets you jump straight to a letter — like your phone's contacts app.
They're one Journal now. Each entry can be a plain note or a catch-up (met up, call, sent or received something, and more), with an optional date and rich formatting — bold, lists, quotes, headings and links.
Yes — entries are listed newest first, can be edited or deleted, filtered by category, and paged through with “Show more” as your history grows.
Yes. In the Contacts app, select contacts (or all), share/export them as a .vcf file, then in With Thought go to Settings → Contacts → Import contacts. You'll review every match before anything changes — duplicates can be merged or skipped. Importing one person? “Add person” accepts a single .vcf or .csv card too.
Any time. Settings → Contacts → Export gives you your contacts as a standard .vcf file, or a full backup of everything (dates, journal, gifts) as JSON.
Settings → Activity history lists imports, exports and other account activity, newest first.
On the morning you choose (on the hour, between 4 and 11 AM), in your own timezone. Set both in Settings → Reminders — we can detect your timezone automatically. You can get one email per date, or a single weekly digest on Mondays.
Yes — open their profile and tap the Reminders pill. You can mute them entirely, choose email vs push, and set custom lead times like a month before or the day of. There's a global default in Settings, and you can set (or mute) how often you're nudged to reconnect with each person.
First check Settings → Reminders that email reminders are on, and that your account email shows “Verified” (use the pencil icon in Settings → Account if you need to change it). Then check spam for mail from noreply@notify.withthought.app. Still nothing? Email us at support@withthought.app.
Gift ideas are your private pool of possibilities. Lists gather ideas for a person or occasion. When you mark something as sent, you pick who received it — including a specific family member, like a friend's kid — and it's recorded in the gift log and that contact's journal as “Sent something”, so next year you'll remember exactly what you gave.
Birthdays, holidays, new baby, wedding, housewarming, congratulations, condolences, New Year, thank you — or just because.

Only you. Everything you enter is private to your account and protected by row-level security — community gift guides are the only shared content, and publishing one is always your choice.
In Settings → Account: tap the pencil next to your email to change it (you'll verify the new address before it takes effect), or “Change password” — which asks for your current password first.
You can do it yourself in Settings → Account → Danger zone. We'll ask you to type DELETE to confirm and suggest exporting your data first. Deletion removes all your contacts, dates, journal and gifts permanently; we keep only a minimal record that the deletion happened.
